CO Monitoring DSL-7000

CO Monitor: DSL-7000

Recognising the dual requirement for opacity and CO emissions monitoring on smaller combustion processes, DynOptic Systems has developed the DSL-7000 to combine the two measurements in one package.

Utilising two separate optical benches, one infrared for CO and one visible for opacity, the DSL-7000 is capable of monitoring emissions and combustion efficiency in mg/m³ and normalised mg/Nm³.

Opacity is measured using technology from our established SM-200 and DSL-1000 instruments, and can report the measurements in opacity (%), volumetric density (mg/m³),

Ringelmann, extinction, and a number of logarithmic functions.

The CO measurement is made using the widely accepted NDIR principle and can produce readings in ppm, vpm, mg/m³, and mg/Nm³.

The DSL-7000 is a cross stack analyser which measures the concentration across the width of the stack to give a representative measurement of CO and particulate levels. Both CO and particulate readings can be calibrated very accurately using the methodology detailed in European standard EN14181.

The instrument consists of a pair of sensors (a transmitter and receiver) mounted on the stack using standard flange fittings, and an operator interface (a control unit) fitted up to 1km away, either at the base of the stack or in a control room.

All signal processing is performed in the sensors using the latest generation microprocessor electronics. Data is exported from the sensors via serial link (RS485) to the operator interface which has a human interface is the form of a display/keypad, and an electronic interface in the form of relay contacts, analogue outputs, and serial comms (RS232/485). Furthermore the operator interface offers the facility to add plug-in interface modules enabling comms with a variety of generic bus systems, such as ModBus, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet etc.

The operator interface allows for the input of up-to four external measurements, typically temperature, pressure, oxygen, and moisture, to facilitate normalization. These measurements can be brought on-board the operator interface via four analogue inputs, or alternatively fixed values can be keyed into the front panel.

The sensors are of rugged construction with a high environmental rating. Both heads are supplied with air purge bodies, which when connected to an airline will serve to protect the optical surfaces from dirt and particulate deposition – prolonging service intervals.

The operator interface is housed in a rugged weatherproof enclosure designed for wall mounting. The human interface consists of a clear single line VFD display (visible in completely dark conditions as well as sunlit environments) and a 20 key numeric keypad. The wiring terminations are made to two part terminal blocks inside a terminal compartment dedicated access.

Note: The DSL-7000 operator interface is now available in a 4U 19” rack enclosure, for easy integration into CEMS packages – quote DSL-7000R.

The DSL-7000 and DSL-7000R represent the perfect solution to your combined CO/Particulate monitoring requirement.
