Controlling Smoke and Particulate Emissions in Industry and at Sea

Designed for monitoring smoke and dust concentrations in the exhaust gas of industrial combustion or air filtration processes, our range of low cost / low maintenance opacity monitors offer the ideal solution to your emissions monitoring or process control requirement.

Easy to install, simple to use, and available in a variety of different models and configurations, opacity monitors from Dynoptic are used in a variety of different applications including:

Our continuous opacity monitors are designed to measure the visible opacity (0-100%) of gas passing through a duct, stack, exhaust or flue - typically the exhaust gas from an industrial combustion process or air filtration system. This measurement can be presented as opacity (0-100%) for smoke monitoring, or calibrated against independent reference measurements to present a concentration (mg/m³) for dust monitoring.

We offer a flexible range of interface and output options including alarm level relay contacts with programmable delay, isolated and scalable 4-20mA outputs, ModBus serial communications, and “walk up” USB connections. Available with or without a control unit (which is available in a variety of enclosure styles) our opacity monitors can be easily integrated into a ModBus multi-drop system, and all our instruments are supplied with free utility software for use on a PC or laptop computer.

Opacity monitor

Our opacity monitors are of rugged design, and have an excellent reliability record. Regular maintenance simply involves cleaning the TX and RX lenses, which are easily accessible due to our latched head design. Both the TX and RX are supplied with an air purge body which when connected to a high volume source of clean air (a blower is recommended) will resist particle deposition on the lenses and further lengthen service intervals.
